Chronic Constipation Can Cause Death When Untreated!

While you may want to believe that chronic constipation is little more than an inconvenience that will not lead to any serious medical problems—nothing could be further from the truth.  The fact is that constipation symptoms are no laughing matter because they may actually be part of a larger medical problem, such as:

  • Diabetes
  • MS
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Colon Cancer
  • Polyps

Truthfully, chronic or near-constant constipation symptoms are NOT generally caused by one of the conditions listed above.  Instead, there are three main culprits to consider when thinking about the source of chronic bowel incontinence, such as:

  • Fecal impaction—constipation symptoms are commonly caused by blockages that form between the bottom of the large intestines and the beginning of the colon.  This narrow passage will clog easily and create abdominal pain and constipation problems until the impaction is removed.
  • Dehydration—when the body is deprived of the water it needs, then stool will become drier and bowel movements will be more painful and difficult.  If you are having problems treating the condition with standard constipation remedies (laxatives, enemas, or other home remedies), you may simply want to make sure that you are getting enough liquids.  Be sure to consume at least ½ ounce of water for every pound of body weight in order to prevent constipation due to dehydration.
  • Diet—Frequent bowel movements are common when you have a healthy and balanced diet.  One of the biggest constipation causes is insufficient fiber intake.  While certainly not a cure for constipation, fiber will add bulk to your stool so that it is easier to pass through the gastrointestinal tract.  In addition, fiber helps prevent constipation because it adds water to stool so that it is softer and easier to pass during bowel movements.

If the constipation cause is indeed an impaction, then death can result if the condition is not properly treated.  The body must eliminate stool in a timely manner in order to remove toxins and harmful bacteria.  If no constipation remedy is found, then the harmful bacteria and toxins present in the feces will be reabsorbed into the bloodstream.  At first, this merely strains the immune system and causes minor cellular damage.  However, the bacteria levels will continue to climb until they cause a massive body-wide infection known as septicemia.  Septicemia can lead to death unless treated with antibiotics.

Chronic idiopathic constipation (also known as functional constipation) constipation is rare. Some people are regularily constipated and do not respond to standard treatment. This chronic constipation may be related to multiple problems with hormonal control, nerves and muscles in the colon, rectum, or anus. Functional constipation occurs in both children and adults and is most common in women.

Constipation symptoms should be taken very seriously especially when they persist beyond 4-5 days.  The build-up of toxins and bacteria in your body may not always lead to death—but these harmful elements will lead to long-term permanent damage.  To prevent fecal impactions and blockages that cause constipation, you should use an all natural colon cleanser periodically to flush the gastrointestinal tract and remove the accumulated feces along the colon walls.  Colon cleansers made from chemicals and other synthetic ingredients may not prevent constipation problems—in fact, they may cause them because they often lead to dehydration!  So, be sure to use  an all natural colon cleanser in order to best prevent chronic constipation problems and the long term medical consequences they cause.
